Custom Hamer Californian

One of my favorite guitar company’s from the 80’s is Hamer. Back in the day, I played a USA Hamer Californian. In later years, Hamer has produced some lower priced guitars made over seas. This particular guitar was made in Korea and originally had a very common transparent amber finish and Duncan Designed pickups. Nothing wrong with the Duncan Designed pickups, but they weren’t really very exciting from a tonal perspective. I painted this guitar with a color change paint that goes from blue to purple depending on the light and angle. New wiring, a kill switch and new pickups were added, including a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound in the neck position and a Dimarzio Andy Timmons pickup in the bridge. A guitar that was sort of average suddenly became a fire breathing shred machine.
